1st day out!!!!

WOW what a beautiful and successful day!!! We had our 1st day at the outreach today. So many stories to share with you!!! Michelle and Lydia worked in medical today and had a few stories to share. The most touching one was with an 8 year old girl who was having 3-4 seizures a day. She was not able to walk or talk. Her parents brought her in and Lydia asked what we could do to help them today..... The father said, "Please do something to make her walk and talk." This broke our hearts. What could we say? Of course by the time they left the medical station, we had completely fallen in love with the little girl and she had touched our hearts. Lydia told the parents that their little girl was here with us all for a reason. She is a sweet little angel and will touch so very many peoples lives. They left feeling a bit better and a little uplifted. This is her We had many young people helping interpret for us in languages we had NO idea how to speak. All the young people were so respectful of the older adults they were helping. They were also on fire for God. It is wonderful to see the youth of the world loving God so much. We had 2 people out sick today that had to stay back at the hotel. They took care of their health today and with LOTS of prayers, will be back at the outreach tomorrow. Roxy was working with a very old man today. She asked if her had any family around to help. A young man said he was there to help him. Roxy asked if the older man was his grandfather.....the boy replied, "Of course, he is a grandfather to us ALL!!!" As George was working with some people today, he wanted to know what living conditions these people were living in. He decided to ask each of them what kind of floors they had in their homes and if they had bathrooms in their homes. 100% of the people had dirt floors and 100% of them had bathrooms OUTSIDE their homes. So, we all were just reflecting on how much we have compared to so many others. The people of Ayacucho are so short and sweet. While George was talking with a lady, he knelt down on his knees. The lady stood up so George could take her measurements for a wheelchair. As he began to work, he noticed he was still taller than her as he looked down to see her. We did have a small accident today......Kathy was SLIMMED by Aaron. While filling up a wheelchair wheel, Aaron "thought" he knew how to do this simple task. As he finished, he removed the slime bottle from the tire and SLIME exploded and squirted ALL over Kathy. The medical team quickly looked out the curtain to see what all the commotion was about and to see if there were injuries. All we saw was a GREEN SLIMMED Physical Therapist Look at all the donated medical supplies we got from all you wonderful people!!! And yes, that is Lydia eating rice for lunch from a chux pad!!!! hehehe
